There are several NLP techniques for students that are invaluable which are taught by Abhay Thhakkar in his NLP training courses in India.
On this pages you can find certain Neuro Linguistic Programming concepts that are relevant for learning for students.
" Learning ways to accelerate and simplifying your learnings is an invaluable tool in your journey as a life-long learner. Isn't it?" - Abhay Thhakkar - NLP Trainer from India
More often than not, we are unable to describe how we learnt something, but we continue to teach others about the topic of interest.
Teachers particularly presume that the students look at things and understand things the same way that they do because they are imparting knowledge in a certain way.
However, it is necessary to understand subjectively the mechanism that each individual uses to learn.
Another issue that students and others alike often suffer from is remembering content. It has been seen that in order for someone to effectively remember something, it has to be traced back to the time and state of consciousness when the information is provided.
There have also been proven instances where people tend to talk about something important and they also forget it.
Different people have different ways of retaining information- identifying the process that works for you makes all the difference. For some, it's easier to memorise information visually than auditorily.
When you learn something visually, usually a picture pops up and you just use the information that you need from it. Some people who learn auditorily may make use of music and beats to remember a piece of information. Some might go on to put subtitles under the picture they want to remember, some might use the environment in which they received the information to be the cue for retrieval. If you really want to remember something, try to pair it with each aspect of the representational system- visual, auditory and kinaesthetic.
(In the world of Neuro Linguistic Programming - Visual, Auditory and Kinaesthetic is known as Representational System. This NLP concept is taught in depth in the NLP - Hypnotherapy course, Online NLP Course and NLP Practitioner Course.)
Now let's apply this with an example. Let’s say you need to remember to buy milk, apples, and bread at the store. Instead of just memorizing the words, you can engage all three learning styles: Visual where you can begin to imagine a white milk bottle dancing with apples bouncing around it, while a loaf of bread acts like a bridge between them. The more exaggerated and funny the image, the better! Auditory, where you can make up a silly rhyme or a beat:"Milk and apples, bread so sweet, Don’t forget them—what a treat!" Kinaesthetic where you can, act it out! Pretend you’re holding a milk carton, tossing an apple, and tearing a piece of bread. You can even physically write it down to engage your muscle memory. By combining these elements, your brain has multiple ways to recall the list when you walk into the store!
Another way to have a better retrieval ability is to be as efficient and economical as possible in what you do remember, and to use what you have already remembered as much as possible. Another proven way is to engage in the process of chunking which involves breaking a large task down into smaller, more manageable, pieces. Reading is actually not that hard to learn. All you need to do is match the word's sound that you already know with its picture. If you are familiar with the spoken word, you have already associated that sound with the meaning of that word. For example, the way you do that in your brain is to hear the word "cat" at the same time that you recall your experience of the sight, sound, and feeling of a cat.
“If you have the attitude that If you take the attitude that anything is possible, you'll find that a lot of things that were previously thought impossible actually do become possible.” - Richard Bandler (co-creator of NLP).
Learning is all about effectively representing things in the way that you would like to remember. Hence, to effectively memorise something, you just have to use the three representational systems to add as many retrieval cues as possible and pay attention to the relevant aspects of the information.
There might be more than a fraction of people who have had a bad experience with a subject back in school. Be it Maths or Science- it causes you to feel inadequate in response to the presenting conditions.
Now let's change how you look at this with a small NLP technique.
Think about the material you do not have a good feeling about. Now close your eyes and think of an experience that you have had that is marvellous and amazing- where you felt excited, curious and thrilled. Now open your eyes for a few seconds and look at the material and then close your eyes and return back to that amazing experience. Alternate between these experience.
Notice the change.
Note: This is a part of an NLP technique that is to applied with other NLP techniques that you will learn during the Transformative NLP Training.
